Dan
Local Government
Hi I am Dan Land and I have lived in Thorpe-Le-Soken for most of my life. I have been very lucky to have travelled a lot but my heart has always brought me back to Tendring.
My early career was in administration, working for Adult Community Learning which led onto marketing and communications. Being very passionate about the place where I live, I became frustrated with the activities of a local land owner who was land filling in the village. Having made my feelings known to the local Parish Council about the situation, there began the start of my journey up the local government ladder.
I am well known for getting things done quickly and efficiently and currently hold the positions of Thorpe-le-Soken Parish Council Chairman, Tendring District Councillor for Thorpe, Beumont and Great Holland and Essex County Councillor for Tendring Rural East.
Over the years I have developed a great respect for the work of Lads Need Dads and how it positively impacts both the local and wider community, so much so that when the opportunity to join the Reading Mentor team came along I grabbed it, as I believe that reading can have such a positive impact on young people.
I’m looking forward to witnessing that positive impact close up!
